PRESENT Charles G. DeMirjyn, Mayor Swen Larson, Councilmember William E. Cunningham, Councilmember Dee Ann Milson, Councilmember Jim Foster, Councilmember James D. Wheaton, City Manager Ronald M. Mutter, Assistant City Manager Steve Chapman, Finance Director Lorrie Poyzer, City Clerk Steven Church, Redlands Daily Facts Pamela Fitzsimmons, The Sun ABSENT None Budget Finance Director Chapman presented a summary of adjustments to Schedule I of the 1992-93 General Fund Proposed Budget which now reflects a deficit of $53,000.00. He reported it was still unknown what the State will do to us as their budget has not yet been adopted. City Manager Wheaton highlighted the future concerns the City Council needs to address as to how they want to approach next year's budget which is estimated to be $1.6 million short. Councilmember Cunningham said he could not support the proposed budget with no reserves and the use of one-time money; he presented a list of suggested spending reductions. Councilmember Milson felt Councilmembers should not attend any conferences or meetings at the City's expense; she did not want to cut the DARE program from the Police Department's budget; and desired more information to reduce the Redevelopment Agency's budget. Councilmember Foster indicated he wanted to reduce the utility rates and responded to several of Mr. Cunningham's suggestions. Councilmember Larson indicated he wished to wait for the State's numbers before adopting the City's budget. Councilmembers concurred to continue their budget discussions on September 22, 1992, at 9:00 A.M. The meeting adjourned at 10:1.5 A.M.
