STUDY SESSION- 1997-98 PROPOSED BUDGET
A revised (as of April 1.6, 1997) comparison of 1.996-97 adjusted budget and
estimated actual budget to departments' 1997-98 budget; a summary of the
adjustments approved at the previous City Council meeting to the Police
Department's proposed budget; monthly vehicle allowances showing employees
and amounts; and a memo regarding the rideshare van were presented.
Fire Department - Fire Chief Enslow and Fire Division Chief John Habant
presented the proposed budget for the Fire Department. Councilmember
Gilbreath moved to approve the Fire Department budget as presented subject to
final overview. Motion seconded by Councilmember Gil and carried with
Councilmember Cunningham abstaining from the vote.
Utility Users' Tax Reserve - Councilmember Larson moved to fold into a two-
year program the Utility Users' Tax Reserve to fund the following public safety
items:

Fire Station 2 paramedic funding $228,000
DARE program 74,000
Emergency preparedness program 91,000
Police substation operation 247,000
Tree trimming crew 68,000
Library clerk(part-time) 9,000
Purchase of a ladder truck for Fire Department Balance of Reserve
Motion seconded by Councilmember Gilbreath and carried with
Councilmember Cunningham abstaining from the vote.
Public Works -Public Works Director Mutter presented the proposed budget for
the Public Works Department. Councilmember Gilbreath moved to approve the
Public Works Department budget as presented subject to final overview.
Motion seconded by Councilmember Gilbreath and carried with
Councilmember Cunningham abstaining from the vote.
Community Development - Community Development Director Shaw presented
the proposed budget for the Community Development Department.
Councilmember Gilbreath moved to approve the Community Development
budget as presented subject to final overview. Motion seconded by
Councilmember Gil and carried with Councilmember Cunningham abstaining
from the vote.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the City Council meeting adjourned at
10:40 A.M. to an adjourned regular meeting to be held on Monday, April 21,
1997, at 8:00 A.M. in the City Council. Chambers, 35 Cajon Street, Suite 2,
Redlands, California.
