This special meeting of the City, Council was called for the purpo
considering implementation of the Emergency Employment Act of 197
City Manager Merritt explained that Redlands is one of thirteen S,
Bernardino County cities eligible to participate in a program whi,
provide 90% of the funds necessary for employing certain categori,
unemployed and underemployed people. The program will run to Aug-
1972, and has precise requirements which were outlined in detail.

Manager ' s signature on the letter of agreement. This motion was seconded
by Councilman Miller and carried unanimously.
On motion of Councilman Miller, seconded by Councilman DeMirjyn, unani-
mous approval was also given for application for Federal funds, with the
City Manager authorized to sign the application.
Following further discussion of the program as it would apply to other
departments in the City where there is essentially no turnover in
personnel, the Council adjourned at 7:50 A.M.
