WORKSHOP
Master Plan for Downtown Redlands - Mayor Peppler called this special
meeting of the City Council to order and announced that the Planning
Commission, Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission, Business and
Economic Development Advisory Commission, Traffic and Parking
Commission, and Downtown Redlands Business Association were also holding
special meetings at this time. Also invited to this meeting were other
stakeholders involved with the Master Plan for Downtown Redlands including
representatives from the Chamber of Commerce, Ralph Megna, Empire
Development Solutions, and Joe Donati, Investwest Group, LLC.
Representatives from Torti Gallas and Partners conducted the meeting in order
to meet the stakeholders and seek input from all of the stakeholders to gain a
better understanding of the visions and goals for downtown Redlands working
towards the goal to link assets such as existing businesses and historical
resources with new developments to create a pedestrian-friendly destination that
will spur economic development and tourism. Major projects to be included in
the Master Plan for Downtown Redlands are redevelopment of the Redlands
Mall, a downtown hotel, parking structures, "Gateway Plaza," a multi-use
complex to be located on the southeast corner of Eureka Street and Pearl
Avenue, Krikorian Theatre expansion, and downtown restaurants. A.
"preliminary" development program for the downtown completed by Torti
Gallas so far was also presented.

ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the City Council meeting adjourned at
3:12 P.M. The next regular meeting of the City Council will be held on
October 1.9, 2004.
