MINUTES of a special meeting of the City Council of the City of Redlands held in the
Council Chambers, Civic Center, 35 Cajon Street, on November 18 2008, at
2:00 P.M.

PUBLIC COMMENTS
Mayor Harrison called the special meeting of the City Council to order.
Planning Commission Chairman Macdonald called the special meeting of the
Planning Commission to order and provided an opportunity for the public to
address the City Council and the Planning Commission on the subject which
was scheduled on this special meeting agenda. Planning Commissioners Paul
Foster, Gary .Miller and Eric Shamp were thanked for their preparation of
architectural guidelines which were the subject of this joint meeting. There
were no further comments forthcoming.
WORKSHOP
Non-Residential Architectural Guidelines - Principal Planner Manuel Baeza
reported that on October 28, 2008, the Planning Commission recommended that
draft architectural guidelines be forwarded to the City Council for their review.
Further, the Planning Commission asked staff to schedule a joint workshop of
the City Council and Planning Commission to review these guidelines. The
guidelines are divided into three sections addressing architectural design, site
design and landscaping. The guidelines include sections that speak to energy
efficiency, adaptive reuse and public art. Councilmembers reviewed the
guidelines noting they may not apply to the downtown area and Transit

Oriented District. It was suggested a separate document be prepared for review
which could become an addendum to these guidelines.

None forthcoming.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, the City Council and Planning Commission
meetings adjourned at 2:59 P.M. The next regular City Council meeting will be
held on November 18, 2008, at 3:00 P.M. The next regular Planning
Commission meeting will be held on November 25, 2008.
