ORDINANCE NO. 1683
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING
THE REDLANDS ORDINANCE CODE - WELFARE - ANIMALS -
ARTICLE 573 AND AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1585
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS FOL-
LOWS :
SECTION ONE: That Section 57301 of Chapter 57 of the Redlands
Ordinance Code is hereby amended to read:
§ 57301. DOGS RUNNING AT LARGE. Every person owning or
having charge, custody, control, or possession of any dog shall not
permit such animal to run at large , or to run loose or unrestrained
in, along, or upon any public street, sidewalk, or place. Any dog,
whether licensed or not, found so running loose or unrestrained,
may be impounded by the Chief of Police or any of his authorized
officers for a period of seventy-two hours and if the owner or
possessor of such impounded dog shall not, before the expiration of
said period, call for and claim said dog and pay pound fees plus
ten dollars ($10. 00) for cost of apprehension, the Chief of Police
is empowered to destroy and dispose of such dog, or cause such
destruction and disposal. If the same dog is impounded a second
time, within one calendar year, the impounding fee is increased to
fifteen dollars ($15. 00) . If the same dog is impounded a third or
subsequent time, within one calendar year, the impounding fee is
increased to thirty dollars ($30 . 00) for each such subsequent
impoundment.
SECTION TWO: This ordinance shall be in force and take
effect as provided by law.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in
the Redlands Daily Facts , a daily newspaper of general circulation
printed and published in this City.
