HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances_1749_CCv0001.pdf ORDINANCE NO. 1749 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING CHAPTER 57 OF THE REDLANDS ORDINANCE CODE -- WELFARE -- ANIMALS - ARTICLES 571 AND 573 AND RESCINDING ORDINANCES NOS. 1205, 1515, AND 1727 AND AMENDING ORDINANCES NOS. 11.72 AND 1585 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS : SECTION ONE: That Section 57107 of Chapter 57 of the Redlands Ordinance Code be hereby amended to read: § 57107. PAYMENT OF THE FEE. Every person, firm, or corporation owning, harboring, possessing, or having custody of a dog within this city shall, on or before the due date as herein defined, pay to the City of Redlands a license fee as set by resolution of the City Council of the City of Redlands . SECTION TWO: That Section 571.08 of Chapter 57 of the Redlands Ordinance Code be hereby amended to read: § 57108 . WHEN DELINQUENT AND PENALTY THEREFORE. All licenses shall be delinquent if the required fee is not paid within thirty (30) days after the due date. The penalty for delinquency shall be the amount equal to one- half of such license fee. SECTION THREE: That Section 57112 of Chapter 57 of the Redlands Ordinance Code be hereby amended to read: § 57112. LICENSE TRANSFER AND TAG REPLACEMENT. Upon presentation of proof, satisfactory to the City Treasurer, that a valid license not to expire prior to June 30 has been issued by any city, county, or city and county within the State of California so as to comply with Article 572, a fee as set by resolution of the City Council of the City of Redlands may be accepted and an application receipt issued. therefor. Upon request and after verifica- tion that a current City of Redlands license has been issued, the City Treasurer shall accept said fee and issue an appli- cation receipt for the replacement of a lost, mutilated, or stolen tag. When issuing a replacement tag, the City Treasurer shall cancel the original license and the tag authorized in connection with it. x r f SECTION FOUR: That Section 57303 of Chapter 57 of the Redlands Ordinance Code be hereby amended to read: § 57303. RELEASE OF IMPOUNDED DOGS. If any dog impounded by virtue of this Article has not been vaccinated as provided in Article 572 , the owner or the person entitled to .its custody shall pay an additional sum as set by resolu- tion of the City Council of the City of Redlands for the keeping of said animal and comply with the provisions of Article 571 and 572 before the dog may be returned. SECTION FIVE: That Section 57304 of Chapter 57 of the Redlands Ordinance Code be hereby amended to read: § 57304 . DISPOSAL OF SMALL ANIMALS ON REQUEST OF OWNER. An owner or possessor of a small animal may request the arrangement for disposal of such animal. Under this section, such animal must be delivered by the owner or possessor to a place and at a time designated by the Chief of Police or his representative and must not require appre- hension. The person delivering the animal for disposal shall post a disposal fee as set by resolution of the City Council of the City of Redlands . SECTION SIX: This ordinance is declared to be an emergency measure for the preservation of the public health and safety in accordance with the provisions of the Government Code of the State of California and shall take effect immediately upon its adoption. The nature of the emergency is that proper licensing is essential to effective regulation of the condition of dogs in the City of Redlands , particularly rabies control, and preventing rabid or dangerous dogs from running loose in the community.
