ORDINANCE NO. 2667 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING CHAPTER 2.56 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE CITY'S PERSONNEL SYSTEM WHEREAS, on September 19, 2006, the City Council of the City of Redlands ("this City Council") adopted Resolution No. 6547 providing for the establishment of the position of Assistant City Manager; and WHEREAS, Chapter 2.56 of the Redlands Municipal Code establishes regulations governing the City's Personnel System; and WHERAS, Section 2.56.030 of the Code exempts certain specified employees from the regulations governing the City's Personnel System; and WHEREAS, based upon the recommendation of City staff, it is the desire of this City Council to exempt the position of Assistant City Manager from the Personnel System; THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS does ordain as follows: Section 1. Section 2.56.030 of the Redlands Municipal Code relating to the applicability of the City's Personnel System is hereby amended to read as follows: "2.56.030 Competitive Service — Applicability: The provisions of this Chapter shall apply to all offices, positions and employments in the service of the City, except: A. City Attorney; B. City Manager; C. Assistant City Manager; D. Directors of City Departments ("Department Heads"); E. Elective Officers; F. Members of appointive boards, commissions and committees; G. Temporary, provisional or seasonal employees in any office or department of the City; H. Part-time employees in any office or department of the City; 1. Volunteers or per diem personnel; J. Persons engaged under contract to supply expert professional or technical services for a definite period of time; K. Officers and employees of the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health and Welfare engaged in the enforcement of public health regulations in the City; ©JM\Ord"2667 I f L. Emergency employees in any office or department of the City. All such positions and employments shall be for the duration of the emergency and shall terminate immediately thereafter." Section 2. Certification.
