HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances_2142_CCv0001.pdf ORDINANCE NO. 2142 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING SECTIONS 2. 24.040, 2. 62. 060, AND 2. 62. 070 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE HISTORIC AND SCENIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION'S MEMBERSHIP THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS does ordain as follows: SECTION ONE: That Section 2. 24.040 of the Redlands Municipal Code be amended to read as follows: "2.24.040 Membership. The Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission shall consist of seven members. Six members shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council . Each member shall serve for a staggered four-year term and until his or her successor is appointed and qualified. No person shall serve more than two consecutive terms . Vacancies on the Commission shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council for the unexpired portion of the term. Six of the members of the Commission shall serve without compensation and shall be residents of the City and neither officers nor employees thereof . The Council may remove any member of the Commission at any time, without cause, by a majority vote. Four members of the Commission shall constitute a quorum. One member of the Commission shall be the Senior Archivist of the Redlands' A. K. Smiley Public Library or his or her designated appointee. " SECTION TWO: That Section 2. 62.060 of the Redlands Municipal Code be amended to read as follows: "2.62. 060 Members - Number. The Historic and Scenic Preservation Commission shall consist of seven members." SECTION THREE: That Section 2. 62.070 of the Redlands Municipal Code be amended to read as follows: "2.62. 070 Members - Appointment of citizens at large. I Six members of the Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor with the approval of the City Council from City residents at large who have demonstrated that they have knowledge of and long-standing interest in the preservation of historic resources. Current members shall continue to serve their terms ." SECTION FOUR: This ordinance shall be in force and take effect as provided by law.
