AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS PROVIDING FOR AND
CREATING A PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION IN AND FOR THE CITY
OF REDLANDS
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands believes it
to be in the best interests of the City to create a Public Works
Commission,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redlands does
ordain as follows.:
SECTION ONE: That a Public Works Commission is hereby created
and established to act as an advisory board to the city Council of
the City of Redlands for the purpose of making recommendations con-
cerning the Department of Public Works as it shall be requested by
the City Council.
SECTION TWO: That the said Public Works Commission shall con-
sist initially of seven members to be appointed by the City Council
of said City, from City residents at large who are not City offi-
cials, for the following terms :
Two members for a term of one (1) year
Three members for a term of two (2) years
Two members for a term of three (3) years
Thereafter the respective successors shall be appointed by the City
Council from City residents at large for terms of three (3) years.
No resident of the City of Redlands may be appointed to said Com-
mission who has or by reason of his employment may have a direct
or indirect relationship with the Department of Public Works of the
City of Redlands . Said direct or indirect relationship is defined
as either a private or governmental relationship with the Depart-
ment of Public Works of the City of Redlands.
SECTION THREE: The Public Works Commission, upon request from
the City Council, may make recommendations concerning public works
matters.
SECTION FOUR: The Public Works Commission shall consider the
annual budget of the Public Works Department during the process of
its preparation and make recommendations with respect thereto to
the City Manager.
SECTIONFIVE: A member of the City Council, appointed by the
Mayor, with consent, and the Director of Public Works of the City
of Redlands shall be ex-officio members of the Public Works Com-
mission and shall attend all meetings and serve in an advisory
capacity to said Commission.

SECTION SIX: That the Public Works Commission shall immedi-
ately upon its appointment organize and elect a chairman for the
term of one (1) year and such other officers as the Commission may
deem advisable and shall make such necessary rules and regulations
as is necessary to fulfill the obligations and duties of their
Commission.
SECTION SEVEN: That the Commission shall keep records of all
its acts and proceedings and shall meet upon request of the City
Council of the City of Redlands .
SECTION EIGHT: The seven members of the Commission shall
serve without compensation
SECTION NINE: Effective date: This ordinance shall be in
force and take effect as provided by law.
SECTION TEN: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in
the Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general circulation printed
and published in this city.

at a regular meeting thereof held on. the 6th day of June, 1972
by the following vote:
