HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances_1585_CCv0001.pdf ORDINANCE NO. 1585 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING THE REDLANDS ORDINANCE CODE - WELFARE - ANIMALS - ARTICLES 571 AND 573 , AND RESCINDING ORDINANCES NO. 1378 AND NO. 1458 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS FOL- LOWS : SECTION ONE: Sections 57111, 57301, 57303 and 57304 of Chapter 57 of the Redlands Ordinance Code are hereby amended to read: Sec. 57111. LICENSE DUE ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1. A license which became due on or after January 1 shall be subject to all the provi- sions of this Article except the fee prescribed in Section 57107 may be prorated to one-half of the license fee. Sec. 57301. DOGS RUNNING AT LARGE. Every person owning or having charge, custody, control or possession of any dog shall not permit such animal to run at large, or to run loose or unrestrained in, along or upon any public street, sidewalk, or place. Any dog, whether licensed or not, found so doing may be impounded by the Chief of Police or any of his authorized officers for a period of seventy- two hours and if the owner or possessor shall not, before the ex- piration of said period, call for and claim said dog and pay pound fees plus ten dollars ($10.00) for cost of apprehension, the Chief of Police is empowered to kill and destroy such dog. If the same dog is apprehended more than one time the apprehension fee is in- creased to twelve dollars ($12 .00) for the second and all subsequent apprehensions . Sec. 57303 . RELEASE OF IMPOUNDED DOGS . If any dog impounded by virtue of this Article has not been vaccinated as provided in Article 572, the owner or the person entitled to its custody shall pay an additional sum of three dollars ($3.00) per day for the keeping of said animal and comply with the provisions of Articles 571 and 572 before the dog may be returned. Sec. 57304. DISPOSAL OF DOGS ON REQUEST OF OWNER. Any owner or possessor of any dog may request the Chief of Police to dispose of such dog. Under this Section the dog must be delivered to the Chief of Police or his representative, and not require apprehension. Owner shall pay the following charge for disposal, as applicable: Live dog $10 .00 Dead dog 3 .00 Live puppy, under three (3) months of age 2 .00 SECTION TWO: This ordinance shall be in force and take effect as provided by law. SECTION THREE : The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the Redlands Daily Facts, a daily newspaper hereby designated for that purpose.
