AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING CHAPTER 12.44
OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE AND DESIGNATING SPECIFIED
PUBLIC PARKS TO BE "DRUG FREE ZONES"
WHEREAS, the City Council of the Cite of Redlands has determined that possession for
sale, or the sale of controlled substances, is inconsistent with the purposes and objectives of the
City's public park system, and
%VHER.EAS, California Health and Safety Code Section 11380.5 provides that the Cite
Council may, by ordinance, designate specified public parks, adjacent parking lots and sidewalks
to be "drug free zones,"
BE 1T ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows:
,Section 1. Section 12.44.420 is hereby added to Chapter 12.44 of the Redlands
Municipal Code to read as follows.
"Section 12.44.420 Drug Free Zones
The following parks and adjacent parking lots and sidewalks are hereby designated "drug free
zones" pursuant to California Health and Safety Code Section 11380.5: Sylvan Park, Jennie Davis
Park, Smiley Park, Prospect Park, Community Park, Lugonia Park, Ford Park, Texoma Park,
Caroline Park, Brookside Park, Crafton Park, Ed Hales Park and Hillside Memorial Park."
Section 2. The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause it. or a surnma.rN of it, to be published once in the
Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general circulation within the City, and thereafter, this
ordinance shall take effect in accordance with law.
