AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING
CHAPTER 22 AND CHAPTER 23 OF THE REDLANDS
ORDINANCE CODE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS :
SECTION ONE: That Section 2252 of Chapter 22 of the
Redlands Ordinance Code is rescinded and deleted.
SECTION TWO: That Article 239 is hereby added to Chapter
23 of the Redlands Ordinance Code, as follows:

Sec. 2391. FORETELLING OF FUTURE PROHIBITED, No
person shall practice or solicit, advertise or purport to
practice, as a business or for any consideration, fee
donation, gratuity, reward or compensation, any art or
calling which seeks or purports to predict or foretell
future acts or fortunes of any ration, business, group or
persons or individual, or which attempts or promises to
bring about, cause, result in or influence the achieve-
ment or performance of some personal or economic objec-
tive, by analysis of parts, products or personal charac-
teristics of a person, or by analysis of any animate or
inanimate object including but not limited to celestial
body, crystal bail, tea leaves, or playing or other cards,
or through the exercise of any purported psychic, medium-
istic, prophetic, occult, clairvoyant or supernatural
power. (1419)
Sec. 2391.1 MEDIUMISTIC POWER, NECROMANCY, ETC,
PROHIBITED. No person shall act er solicit, advertise or
purport to act, as a business or for any consideration,
fee, donation, gratuity, reward or compensation, as a
medium or instrumentality for communication with the spirit
of a deceased person or participate in the purported mani-
festation of materialization of supernatural or mediumis-
tic phenomena.
Sec. 2392. EXCEPTION. This ordinance shall not
apply to or prohibit, any religious service, ceremony,
practice, or treatment, or the performance by any licensed
person of the acts and practices usual to his calling or
profession, or the performance of any of the acts and prac-
tices otherwise prohibited by this ordinance when done for
entertainment and amusement of a group of 12 or more per-
sons .
Sec. 2393. SEVERABILITY, This article and the
various parts, sections and clauses thereof are hereby
declared severable. If any part, sentence, paragraph,
section or clause it adjudged unconstitutional or invalid,
the remainder of this article shall not be affected there-
by. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby
declares that it would have passed this article and each
part thereof, regardless of the fact that one or more parts
hereof be declared unconstitutional or invalid.

Sec. 2394. VIOLATION - MISDEMEANOR. A violation of
this article is a misdemeanor punishable by fine of not
more than $500.00, or by imprisonment in the County jail
for not more than six months, or by both such fine and im-
prisonment. (1419)

SECTION THREE: Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in force
and effect thirty ( 30) days after final passage.
SECTION FOUR: Publication. The City Clerk shall certify to the
passage of this ordinance and shall cause the same to be published
once in the Redlands Daily Facts, a daily newspaper hereby designated
for the purpose.
