An Ordinance to Prohibit the Operation, Maintenance,

Use , or Conductirg of Slot Card Vashines, Tape Machinef
and Other Mechanical Devices, in the City of Redlands, Califor-
nia, for Money, or Opofs,, Tares or, Yerchandise , 7, en the Pesult

of the Operation or Action of Which is Dependent Upon Chance or
Hazard.
The Board of Trustees of the City of Redlands do oNain as
follows-,
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person, either as
owner, lessee, agent, employee, mortgagee , or otherwise to oper-

1i ate, keep, maintain, rent, use or conduct within the City of Ped-
15 lands, California, any clock, tape, slot or card machine , or any
other machine, contrivance or device upon which money is staked or
17 i hazarded upon chance , or into which money is pail deposited, or
is played upon chance, or upon the result of the action of which, i
19 money or any other article or thing of value is staked , bet,
is hazarded, won or lost upon chance.
21 Section 2. It shall be unlawful for any person, either as
22 owner, lessee, agent, employee, mortgaeee, or otherwise to
23 operate, keep, maintain, rent, use or conduct within the City of

vice, ulw" bne result or the amon of which money, or other

vaivable tairg is stated, or hazar6od, and Men as operated or

28 piayea by placing or depu6iting therein a coins, cnecxs,
balls or other article or device, or in other manner, and by

rneans of the action whereof, or as a result of the operation of
30 Kichv any merchandise, money,representntive or article of value,
from such machine , when the result of the action or operation
2 of such machine, contrivance, appliance or mechanical device,
8 is dependent upon hazard or chance
4 Section 3. Any person who shall violate the provisions
5 of this ordinance or any provision thereof, shall be deemed
6 guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be
punish by a fine in a scan not exceeding $250.00, or by im-
prisonment in the City Jail for not exceeding 125 days, or shall
suffer both such fine and imprisonment.
Section 4. This ordinance shall take effect from, and
