Code to read as follows:
CHAPTER 46
HOUSE NUMBERING REQUIREMENTS FOR NEW DWELLINGS
§ 46000. DEFINITIONS. For the purpose of this chapter,
"A New Dwelling" is a dwelling structure housing one or more dwelling
units identified by one street address which was authorized by a
building permit dated after the effective date of this ordinance.
§ 46001. PURPOSE OF CHAPTER. The purpose of this chapter
is to promote the safety and welfare of the community by providing a
standardized location for the addresses of new dwellings which will
facilitate the rapid identification of a property by emergency vehicles
in emergency situations. Such standardized locations also minimizes
traffic hazards and offers convenience for those motorists who are
seeking an address from a moving vehicle in traffic.
§ 46002. ADDRESS REQUIRED TO BE POSTED. Prior to the
approval of the final inspection of a new dwelling, the address number,
as determined by the City of Redlands, shall be placed on the premises
of the dwelling in a location which is readily visible from the street.
In addition, the dwelling address number shall also be placed on the
face of the property, provided that said curb is at least six inches
(6" ) in height. If a driveway exists in front of said property, the
numbers shall be located on the curb commencing within six inches (6")
of the driveway approach.
§ 46003 . DESIGN STANDARDS. The numbers shall be painted
on the curb as specified by the standards titled "Standard Design For
House Numbers on Curbs" ; copies of which are on file in the offices of
Redlands City Clerk, the Redlands Department of Public Works, and
Redlands Department of Building and Safety . Said numbers shall be
painted with a white background which extends one-half inch (1/2")
above and below the numbers and two inches (2" ) on each side of the
numbers. The numbers shall be of black paint and each number shall be
uniformly four inches (4" ) in height. All paint shall be of the type
as specified by its manufacturer for exterior use on concrete surfaces.
All painting operations shall be done neatly with the use of stencils
and the paint shall be applied to a thickness consistent with unifor-
mity and durability.
I
§ 46004 . FOR DWELLINGS OCCUPIED PRIOR TO CURB CONSTRUCTION.
If a dwelling has been completed and ready for occupancy prior to the
construction or completion of the curb in front of the dwelling, said
curb will not be deemed complete or acceptable to the City until the
dwelling address numbers have been placed on the curb as defined by this
ordinance.
SECTION TWO: Effective date: This ordinance shall be in force
and take effect as provided by law.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this ordinance and cause the same to be published once in the Redlands
