AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING
CHAPTER 15.40 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE
PERTAINING TO MOVING OF BUILDINGS
SECTION ONE: THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN: Chapter
15.40.00 of the Redlands Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
CHAPTER 15.40
MOVING OF BUILDINGS
15.40.010 It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to
move any building or structure over the public streets or alleys of the City
without first obtaining a permit from the Department of Building and Safety.
15.40.020 Any person, firm or corporation (here-in-after called the
applicant) applying for such a permit shall file with the Director of Building
and Safety an application setting forth the following information:
1 . Present location of building proposed to be
moved or location of point of entry of build-
ing into City.
2. Route proposed to be followed in moving the
building.
3. Location of proposed building site or the
location of point of exit from the City.
4. Date and hours that the building will be
on Citv Streets.
5. Name, address, home phone number and business
phone number of the owner of the building
being moved into or through the City.
6. Name, address, home phone number and business
phone number of the moving company moving
the building into or through the City.
7. Indicate the total height of the building being
moved including the trailer height.
8. Indicate the total width of the building being
moved.
9. Indicate the approximate weight of the building
being moved.
15.40.030 An inspection shall be made of the proposed route by the
Applicant, Community Services Department and the Engineering Department to
determine in advance the need for moving, removing or dropping any utility
lines, poles, street lights , street trees and traffic control devices.
15.40.040 A fee as established by resolution of the CITY COUNCIL
shall be paid upon filing the application. The fee is in addition to any
other applicable fees or charges required by the City or any other juris-
diction. The Building Moving Processing Fees may be waived, per the adoped
Fee Resolution for City-Designated Historic Buildings.
15.40.050 The City Engineer and the Police Department shall have the
right to inspect all rollers, truck wheels, dollies, tractors or other
apparatus proposed to be used in the moving operations, and they shall be
the judge as to the adequacy of such equipment and may require the use of
such apparatus which in their judgement will not cause damage to streets and/or
pavements.
15.40.060 The City Engineer may require the applicant to file a cash
bond with the City of Redlands as a condition to moving a structure over
City Streets, if, in his opinion, the streets, public utilities, street trees
or other property may be subject to damages resulting from the moving of the
structure. The amount of the cash bond will be in the amount as determined
by the City Engineer as necessary to pay for the estimated costs of all damages
which may result by reason of the moving.
15.40.070 No permit shall be issued for the moving of any building
or structure onto a lot in the City from other location in the City of from
a location outside the City without the review and approval of the Planning
Commission as specified in Section 48:00, Ordinance No. 1000 or the City of
Redlands.
SECTION TWO: This Ordinance shall be in force and take effect as
provided by law.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Ordinance and cause it to be published once in the Redlands Daily Facts, a
newspaper of general circulation printed and published in this City.
