Whereas,

Whereas, the legislative branch of said City of Redlands,
duly
by a rosolutionA adopted 'by a vote of more than two-thirds of
" all its members and approved by the executive of said city, has
!,declared it necessary to incur an indebtedness in excess of the
;money in the treasury of said city applicable to the purpose for
',which such indebtedness is to be Incurred, to-wit, I, the sum
l'iof 450$000. , for the purposes set forth in said resolution,
" and hereinafter mentioned.
Nowt therefore, the Board of Trustees of the City of
11aediands ��io ordain as follows:

Section 1. That the Board of Trustees of said city does
�!hereby determine and declare thtt it is necessary to incur an
ill
ilindebtedness in the sum of #50,000. ii- excess of the iiioney in
! the treasury of said city applicable to the purpose for which
'such indebtedness is to be incurred and in excess of any coney
which will come into said treasury applicable to such purpose;
i1that such indebtedness proposed to be incurred Is for the fallow-
ing purposes, to-wit:

Section 2. A special clection is hereby called to re held
in said city on the day of 4__V
for the purpose of determining whether su h indebtedness Shall
be Incurred.
Section 3. If said propel,"ition to incur said indebtedness
receives the requisite number of votes to carry the same, then
and in that cane, bonds of said city In the amount of #50,000o ,
Gold Coln of the United :hate 3, ,ihall be issued and sold for
said purposes.
Bonds authorized to be issued purBuunt to said election
Shall bear interest from their issuance until p,;-id at the rate
of five per cent ( 5 h) per a,,num, payable semi-annually ; and the
� principal and interest of said bonds shall De payable In Gold
Coin of the United States of America, in the manner following,
that is to say:
One-twentieth ( 1/20 ) part of the whole amount of said
principal of said indebtedness created under said proposition
shall be paid, each and every year, at the City TreaBury of said
City of Rectlands, on a day or date 1-10 be, hereafter fixed by the
legi,,31ative branch of said municipality, together Faith all the
interest on such Bums unpaid at such date ( provided that all
of such indeotedness ,3hall be paid within twenty years from the
ime of contracting the same ), provideft that the interest on
said bonds shall be paid semi-annually so that there hall be
, a payment of interest on all Bums then unpaid in each and every
!' half year, one of such semi-annual payments In each year being
at the date of the payment of the annual installaent of the
j1principal of such indebtedness as aforesaid, and provided
, fuxther, that said interest shall be evidenced by the proper
: coupon attached to such bonds, a separate coupon being attached
to each bond for each semi-annual payment of the interest to
become due on such bond, making the amount of money necessary
o be raised annually, cry taxation, for an interest and sinking
Fund, to pay such bonds, the sum of To Thousand Five Hundred
( 42, 500 . ) Dollars annually for such sinking fund, and for the
interest fund, the sum of 42500. for the first year, and 0125.
less each year thereafter for said Intw est fund until the whole
of said Indebtedness be paid. That said bonds shall be issued
in such denomination or denominations as the Board of Trustees
i� of said City shall authorize, and that said bonds shall be known
i, as "Special Municipal Bonds" .
Section 4. The manner of holding said special election
' and of voting thereat for and against incurring said indebted-
1,, ness, shall be as provided in this ordinance, and that in all
particulars not recited herein, such election shall be held as
' provided by law for holding municipal elections in such munici-
i, pality, and that in particulars not recited herein and not
E: provided by law for holding such municipal elections, the general

election laws of the State of California, so far a3 the same
ii may be apl,,licable, shall aj)ply. Said election shall be conducted
" by a Board of Llection, consisting of two inspectors, two judges,
� two alwrka and two ballot clarke whose duties and powers shall
the Same a3 those of Board of Election and of such election
:lofficers, respectively, under the law governilng ,xaniclpal elect-
ions, and in the particulars not covered by such laws, then
,kunder said general election laws of said State.
At said Special Election, the polls shall be opened at
t, 6 o' clock on the morning of the day of such election and must
ibe kept open until 5 o1 clock in the afternoon of the same day
; when the polls shall be closed.
That for the purpose of said s ecial election, said city
shall be and the same is hereby districted and subdivided into
:!, three municipal election precincts to be known respectively,
as Municipal Election Precinct Number One, Municipal Election
Precinct Number Two, and Municipal Election Precinct Number
Threo; that the following are the boundaries of the polling
], places of said Municipal Election Precincts and the following
; named persons are hereby appointed officers of election for
k; such precincts respectively, to-wit :-
