Ayes:
TO THE HONORABLE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFOR-NIA
The undersigned business men and property owners earnestly
request your Honorable Body to reconsider the matter heretofor sub-
mitted to you , and decided by you, relative to the direction of the
flow of traffic on Fifth Street when made a one way street. We , the
undersigned, feel. that the direction of the flow of traffic on Fifth
Street should be in a Northerly direction for the following reasons:
1. That traffic coming down Cajon Street would be necessarily
channeled directly through Orange Street and the busyest portion of
town, whereas , if Fifth were a North bound street much of the traffic
which would be traveling to the East would use said street to get to
the Highway or State Street or Citrus Ave. Thus alleviating some of
the heavy traffic at the intersection ofCitrus Ave , and State Street
on Orange Street.
2, That the Highway business frontage between Fifth and Sixth
Streets on Highway 99 would be prejudiced in that no "U" turns are
allowed on Highway 99 intersection and in order to reach the parking
lot in the block or the businesses in that block, it would be necessary
for the traffic to go by way of Orange Street, whereas , if Fifth were
North bound, traffic would cross on that street East to Highway 99 to
the businesses or parking lot.
3. That if Fifth Street traffic flowed in a Northerly direction
and Sixth Street traffic In a Southerly direction, residents on the
South side of town would be better served in arriving at the businesses
East of Orange Street.
TH" REFORE, we earnestly urge that your Honorable Body re-
consider the matter and if necessary to give the undersigned oppor-
tunity to be heard on the subject at a public meeting called for
that purpose or at a regular council meeting.
