ORDINANCE NO. 2206
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING
CHAPTER 10. 44 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO POLICE BICYCLE PATROL
WHEREAS, the Police Department of the City of Redlands
has established a new bicycle mounted enforcement team to patrol
City streets and other public facilities located within the City;
and
WHEREAS, Chapter 10 . 44 of the Redlands Municipal Code
prohibits any person from riding upon a bicycle in any municipal
parking facility or upon any sidewalk within any business district
located in the City; and
WHEREAS, implementation of the Police Department ' s new
bicycle mounted enforcement team will necessarily result in
authorized law enforcement officers riding bicycles on City right-
of-way and within City parking facilities;
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
Redlands as follows:
Section 1. Section 10. 44 . 060 of the Redlands Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
1110 . 44 . 060 Bicycles, Skateboards, Etc.
A. It is unlawful for any person to ride upon any
bicycle, roller skate or skates, skateboard, or other
similar contrivance in any municipal parking facility,
except authorized law enforcement personnel of the City' s
bicycle mounted enforcement team.

B. It is unlawful for any person to ride upon any
bicycle, roller skate or skates , skateboard, or other
contrivance upon any sidewalk within any business
district within the City of Redlands, except for
authorized law enforcement personnel of the City ' s
bicycle mounted enforcement team. 'Business district '
means any business district as defined by Section 235 of
the California Vehicle Code. "
Section 2 . The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and the
City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and
shall cause it, or a summary of it, to be published once the
Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general circulation within the
City, and thereafter, this ordinance shall take effect in
accordance with law.
