AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING CHAPTER
2.14 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO
THE CITY'S POLICE RESERVE FORCE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.14 of the Redlands Municipal Code, entitled "Police Reserve
Force,Establishment," is hereby amended to read as follows:
"2.14.020: ESTABLISHMENT, COMPOSITION, APPOINTMENT AND
COMPENSATION POLICE RESERVE FORCE: A police reserve force is established in the
City as a voluntary organization, and which is excluded from the civil service or personnel
system of the City-, the members of which shall serve without remuneration. The Chief of Police
of the City is hereby empowered to deputize and appoint persons as reserve City police officers
pursuant to Penal Code section 832.6. Those persons appointed by the Chief of Police who are
qualified as "designated" Level I Reserve Officers shall have the full powers and duties of a
peace officer as provided in Penal Code section 830.1; the authority of"non-designated" Level I
Reserve Officers shall extend only for the duration of assignment to specific police functions, as
determined by the Chief of Police. All appointments of persons to the Police Reserve Force shall
be made without regard to race,sex,creed,religion or political affiliation."
Section 2. The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause it, or a summary of it, to be published once in the
Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general circulation within the City, and thereafter, this
ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.
