AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF DL DS AMENDING CHAPTER
2.14 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE
POLICE RESERVE FORCE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.14.020 of the Redlands Municipal Code, entitled "Establishment,
Composition,Appointment and Compensation,"is hereby amended to read as follows:
"Section 2.14.020: ESTABLISHMENT,COMPOSITION,APPOINTMF-NT AND
COMPENSATION:
A police reserve force is established in the City as a voluntary organization, and
which is excluded from the civil service or personnel system of the city; the
members of which may receive compensation in the form of a stipend as established
by resolution of the City Council. The Chief of Police of the City is hereby
empowered to deputize and appoint persons as reserve city police officers pursuant
to Penal Code section 832.6. Those persons appointed by the Chief of Police who are
qualified as "designated" level I reserve officers shall have the fidl powers and
duties of a peace officer as provided in Penal Code section 830.1; the authority of
"nondesignated" level I reserve officers shall extend only for the duration of
assignment to specific police functions, as determined by the chief of police. All
appointments of persons to the police reserve force shall be made without regard to
race,sex,creed,religion or political affiliation."
Section 2. The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and the City Clerk shall certify to the
adoption of this ordinance and shall cause it, or a summary of it, to be published once in the
Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general circulation within the City, and thereafter, this
ordinance shall take effect as provided by law.
