AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 30600
30601, 30602, 30603 AND 30604 OF THE
REDLANDS ORDINANCE CODE, RELATING TO THE
KEEPING OF CERTAIN ANIMALS
(RECOUIFICATION PROJECT)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1 . Section 30600 of the Redlands Ordinance
Code is hereby amended to read as follows :
"30600 . PERMIT REQUIRED FOR KEEPING
OF COWS, HORSES, ETC. It is unlawful to
keep within this City any cow, swine,
horse, mule, donkey, goat, or other such
animals, twelve ( 12) or more rabbits or
Belgian Hares , or twenty--five ( 25 ) or
more fowl , chickens, pigeons or doves
without first obtaining a permit to do so
from the City Council , which permit shall
be renewed each year . The Council shall
grant such a permit only upon finding
that (a) the keeping of the animals orr
fowl for which the permit is sought is
not a prohibited use in the zone in which
the applicant ' s property lies, and
(b) the keeping of the animals or fowl
will not be detrimental to the public
health, safety or general welfare. Each
permit shall be conditioned upon the
applicant ' s compliance with all of the
provisions of this Article. "
SECTION 2. Section 30601 of the Redland: Ordinance
Code is hereby amender. to read as follows :
"30601 . DISTANCE FROM HOUSES .
Except as provided in Section 30602, all
animals kept pursuant to a permit granted
under Section 30600 shall be kept at a
distance of at least fifty feet ( 50 ' )
from all dwellings; and for each addi-
tional large animal this disis.ance shall
be increased an additional fifty feet
( 50 ' ) up to a distance of 200 feet . "
SECTION 3 . Section 30602 of the Redlands Ordinance
Code is hereby amended to read as follows :
"30602. FOWL AND RABBITS. All
fowl, rabbits and Belgain Hares shall be
kept at a distance of at least twenty-
five feet ( 25 ' ) from all dwellings . "
SECTION 4 . Section 30603 of the Redlands Ordinance
Code is hereby amended to read as follows :
"30603 . SANITATION OF PREMISLS .
The premises where such animals or fowl
are kept shall be maintained in a clear.
and sanitary condition. Whenever clean
and sanitary conditions are not main-
tained, the City Council may, upon recom-
mendation of any Animal Control Officer
or the Chief of Police, and upon 10 days '
prior notice to the person keeping the
animals or fowl , revoke the permit under
which such animals or fowl are kept. "
SECTION 5 . Section 30604 of the Redlands Ordinance
Code is hereby amended to read as follows :
"30604 . DEAD ANIMALS. No person
shall bury the carcass of any dead animal
in such manner that there is less than
three feet ( 3 ' ) of soil above such
carcass. "

SECTION b . This ordinance shall be in force and
take effect as provided by law.
SECTION 7 . The Mayor shall sign this ordinance and
the City Clerk shall certify to the ado7:r tion of this ordi-
nance and shall cause it or a summary of it to be published
once in the Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general
circulation printed and published in this City.
