AN ORDINkNCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS$ CALIFORNIA;, AMLINDING ORDINANCE
NO. 897$ Entitled "An Ordinance of the City of Redlands Regulating the
Examining, and Licensing of Persons Engaged in the Business of Plumbing,
and Regulating the Installation, Alteration or Repair of Gas and Drainage
Systems and the Inspection thereof, Creating a Board of Appealt Adopting
a Uniform Flunbing Code, Providing Penalties for the Violation thereof,
and Repealing All Ordinances in Conflict therewith.
Adopted March 17,, 1949.
The City Council of the City of Redlands does ordain as follows:
q,N �: That Section 201 of said Plumbing Code - General Requirements Before
Doing Plumbing - be amended to read as follows: It shall be unlawful for ary person,
firm or corporation to carry on or engage in the business of plumbing or to labor at
the trade of plumbing unless such person has successfully passed an examination con-
ducted by the Board of Plumber Exa-miners of the City of Redlands., California., and/or
has had issued to him a Plumbers Certificate of Competency by said Board in the manner
and in accordance with the provisions of this Code.
_SECTIQ1j._AQ-t That Section 303 of said Plumbing Code - To Whom Permits May be Issued -
be amended to read as follows:
(a) No Permit shall be issued to any person,, firm or corporation to do.,
or cause to be done any construction or work regulated by this Code except to a person,
firm, or corporation holding a valid, unexpired and unrevoked Master Plumbers License
as required by Section 212 of this Code, except when and as otherwise hereinafter
provided in this Section.
(b) Any Permit required by this Code may be issued to any person to do any
construction or work regulated by this Codelprovided he is the bona fide owner of such
construction, personally purchases all material and personally does all labor in
connection therewith. In the event any labor is used to complete said construction same
shall be done by a. Licensed Master Plumber or a Journeyman Plumber holding Certificates
of Competency as issued by the Board of Plumber Examiners of the City of Redlands.
(c) No Plumbing or drainu�.ge -work for which a Permit is required shall be
commenced in any building or premises until a Permit to do such work shall have been
first obtained.
SF C_TI 0 N.:Z, : That Section 412 of said Plumbing Code - Journeyman Plumber - be amended
to read as follows:
Journeyman Plumber means a person who installs, removes, alters and/or repairs
plumbing and dreinage systems or part thereof, but who does not furnish any materials
or supplies,, and who is a Registered and the legal possessor of a Plumber's Certificate
of Competency as issued by the Board of Plumber Examiners of the City of Redlands,
California, as provided in this Code.
,�Z�CTION�FOU4: This Ordinance shall be in force and take effect as provided by law.
SECTj0_NFjU: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this .Ordinance and shall
cause the same to be published once in the Redlands Daily....Facts, newspaper
hereby designated for that purpose.
