AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING
CHAPTER 3.66 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING
TO SOLID WASTE RATES
WHEREAS, based upon review of the FY 96197 Budget and testimony presented to
the City Council of the City of Redlands by City staff, this City Council has determined that it is
desirable to adjust the City's rates for solid waste service, and at the same time cover the reasonable
costs incurred by the City for providing such service; and
WHEREAS, California Health and Safetv Code Section 5471 requires that any
change in solid waste rates be made by ordinance adopted by a two-thirds vote of the City Council;
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION ONE: Section 3.66.040,Item A., of the Redlands Municipal Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"3.6(.040 Amount of Charges.
The amount of solid waste rates shall be as follows:
RESIDENTIAL RATES (Monthly)
A. SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL IT' (Per dwelling unit)

'Handicapped and elderly (no able-bodied person in household) will receive both set-out and set-back of
automated and recycling containers upon request at no additional charge.
'`For each additional 90 gallon container(One year minimum) Add $ 7.10
For each additional 60 gallon container(One year minimum) Add $ 5.60
'Non-automated in-yard service Add S 11.70
'Discount of 7.5%if single billing for automated multiple family,condominium and mobile home complexes
with automated service.
`Based on capacity. All overloads(containers with plywood,etc. used to extend the load above the top of the
container)will not be collected until container has been off-loaded to the maximum loading level. The additional trip
charges apply if a return trip is required to complete the service at a later time.
'Any container(bin, roll-off, automated, or non-automated) picked up containing tires will be charged an
additional charge of$5.00 per tire.
'Corresponding commercial bin capacity charges for non-routed extra collections are additional.
'Any green waste only roll-off container containing materials other than green waste will be charged the
corresponding roll-off capacity charge for solid waste,plus a charge of$25.00.
'White goods are not included in this service. Upon request, a listing of businesses who can provide this
service will be made available."

SECTION TWA!: These rates shall be effective for the first full bi-monthly billing period,
subsequent to the effective date of this Ordinance.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Ordinance and cause it, or
a summary of it, to be published in the Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general circulation
published in this City, and thereafter this Ordinance shall be in force and take effect in accordance
with law.
