HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinances_0934_CCv0001.pdf ORDINANCE No. 934 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA, DESIG- NATING CERTAIN STREETS AS BOULEVARDS AND REQUIRING THAT ALL VEHICLES SHALL BE STOPPED BEFORE ENTERING OR CROSSING SAID BOULEVARD, AND CREATING CERTAIN INTERSEC- TIONS AS STOP INTERSECTIONS. The City Council of the City of Red- lands does ordain as follows: Section One: That the following stree€s are hereby declared to constitute a boulevard within the meaning of the 'California Vehicle Act" and that all vehicle traffic shall be stopped before entering or crossing said boulevards and streets: HIGHLAND AVENUE for its entire length in the City of Redlands, with the exception of its intersection with M g;z- way "99" and Cajon Street, and that all vehicle traffic entering said Hlg'i- land Avenue with the exception of sairl two intersections shall stop before do- ing so. CENTER STREET at its intersection with Cypress Avenue. and CYPRESS AVENUE at its intersection with Center Street, and that there shall be a "Four Way Stop" at said intersection, and that al? vehicle traffic shall stop at said in- tersection. CENTER, STREET at its intersection .with Highland Avenue, and HIGHLAND AVENUE at its intersection with Center Street, and that there shall be a "Four Way Stop" at said intersection, and that all vehicle traffic shall stop at said intersection. FIRST STREET at its intersection with Oriental Avenue, on the West Side only. and that all eastbound traffic shall be stopped before entering said First Street intersection. Section Two: The Chief of Police is hereby authorized to erect and maintain -top Signs conforming to requirements of the "California Vehicle Code" at the entrance to all streets intersecting or entering said above streets hereinabove declared to be boulevard streets. Section Three: When Stop Signs ,are erected as in this Ordinance provided, at the entrance to any such intersection, every driver of a vehicle shall stop his vehicle at every such sign before enter- ing such intersection. Section Four: Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be pun- ished by a fine not exceeding Fifty Dol- Ism ($56.M, or by imprisonment in the City or County .Tail for not more than five (5) days or by both such fine and imprisonment. Section Five: Any and 211 ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are herebv repealed. Section Six: This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and approval as provided by law. Section Seven: The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and shall cause the same to be published once in the Redlands Daily Facts. the newspaper hereby deslgnated for that purpose.
