AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITu OF REDLANDS AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1235 ENTITLED I'AN
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING THE REGULATION OF EXCAVATIONS
AND FILLS FOR ANY LOT, SUBDIVISION OR PARCEL OF GROUND."
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANTDS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLL94S;
SECTION 1.11 shall be and is hereby amended:
SECTION 1.11 - RELATIONSHIP OF BUILDINGS TO CUT AND FILL SLOPES
Buildings or structures shall be located clear of the toe or top of
cut or fill slopes according to the following:
1. For side yards:
One-half (1) the vertical height of slope with a minimum of five
(5) feet and a required maximum of ten (10) .feet for any height
slope.
2. For front yards and side yard abutting a street:
A minimum of fifteen (15) feet for any height slope.
3. For rear yards:
A minimum of twenty (20) feet for any height slope except that a
portion of the building not to exceed thirty feet (30) feet in
may project to within ten (10) feet of the toe or top of cut and
fill slopes if a level (± 2% grade) open space having a minimum
dimension of 25 feet and a minimum area of 2000 sauare feet is
provided. Said open space shall be located to the rear of the
front setback line and be adjacent to the main building.
SECTION 1.15 shall be and is hereby amended:
SECTION 1.15 - MAINTENANCE OF PROTECTIVE DEVICES
*A. The owner of any property on which an excavation or fill has been
made pursuant to the provisions of this ordinance, or any other
person or agent in control of such property, shall maintain all
slopes, retaining walls, cribbing, drainage, structures and other
necessary protective devices for his and the adjoining property.
B. All cut and .fill surfaces exceeding a vertical height of five (5)
feet shall be planted and maintained with a suitable ground cover
to protect the slopes against erosion. A permanent irrigation system
consisting of piped water lines terminating in an appropriate number
of sprinklers to insure adequate coverage of the required landscaping
shall be provided. Said landscaping and sprinkling system to be
provided prior to obtaining final inspection approval.
C. Fences or walls with a minimum height of three (3) feet and a
maximum height of six (6) feet shall be installed along the
top of all slopes that have a vertical height of fifteen (15)
feet or more. Where necessary for safety such fencing may be
rewired for lesser heights,
