AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING
CHAPTER 2.02 OF THE REDLANDS MUNICIPAL CODE
RELATING TO THE TERMS OF THE MAYOR AND MAYOR
PRO TEMPORE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS
FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Section 2.02.020 of the Redlands Municipal Code, entitled "Selection of
Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore; Terms of Office," is hereby amended to read as follows:
"2.02.020: Selection of Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore; Terms of Office
A. The City Council shall meet after each general municipal election and choose one of
its members as Mayor, and one of its members as Mayor Pro Tempore. The terms of
office of the Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore shall be for two (2) years, except as
provided in Subsection B of this Section.
B. In the event the terms of the Council members are shortened or extended, as a result
of any change in the election date for City Council members, the terms of the Mayor
and Mayor Pro Tempore shall be correspondingly shortened or, in the case of an
extension of the Council members' terms, the City Council shall meet and select one
of its members to serve as Mayor and one of its members to serve as Mayor Pro
Tempore for the period of time the Council members' terms are extended until the
next municipal election.
C. The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tempore shall hold office from the date of their selection
and until their successors are chosen."
Section 2. Certification. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this ordinance and
cause it to be published once in the Redlands Daily Facts, a newspaper of general circulation
printed and published in this City.
