AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE UNTFOal BUILDING CODE, WITH AFFENDIX, 1955 EDITION.,
ORDINANCE NO. 1067, OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS,, ADOPTED ON THE 2N`D DAY OF JULY 1957.
The City Council of the City of Redlands does ordain as follows.-
SECTION O111E.- That the Uniform Building Code, 1.955 Edition, with Appendix as adopted
by Ordinance No. 1067, is hereby amended by rewording Section 3305 (h) Exterior
Stairways, to read as follows-,
(h) Exterior Stairways, All openings in the exterior wall of a building over
one story in height served by an exterior stairway used as a required exit
shall be protected by a self-closing fire assembly having a three-fourths-hour
(3A hr.) fire resistive rating if the opening is within twenty (20) feet of
the stairway.
EXCEPTIONS: 1. Openings above or level with the highest portion of the
stairway may be unprotected if not nearer than ten (10) feet to the stairway.
2. Opening protection may be omitted from Groups H and 1 Occupancies not more
than two stories in height provided each dwelling unit has access to two
separate stairways.
An exterior stairway shall not be used as a required exit for stories above
the lith story.
SECTION TWO- Each provision of this ordinance shall be separate and severable
and in the event any specific provision is declared void or invalid no other
section, otherwise legal and valid, shall be effected thereby.
SECTION THREE: All, other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
SECTION FOUR-. This Ordinance shall be in force and effect as provided by law.
SECTION FIVE.- The City Clerk shall certify to the passage of this Ordinance and
shall cause the same to be published once in the Redlands Daily Facts, a daily news-
paper designated for that purpose.
