AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AMENDING THE REDLANDS ORDINANCE
CODE FOR THE PURPOSE OF CHANGING THE BUILDING CODE AND AMENDING ORDI-
NANCES NO. 1345 AND NO. 1413
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS :
SECTION ONE: That the Redlands Ordinance Code be amended by adding
Section 64006 to Article 840 of Chapter 84, Division 8, to read as fol-
lows:
84006. That CHAPTER 17 -- CLASSIFICATION OF ALL BUILDINGS BY
TYPES OF CONSTRUCTION AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS be amended by changing
Section 1704 to read as follows:
Section 1704. Roof covering shall be fire-retardant.
EXCEPTION: In Fire Zone No. 3 roofs of untreated cedar or redwood
shakes and shingles constructed in accordance with require-
ments of U.B.C. Standard No. 32-14 for Special Purpose Roofs
may be used on buildings of Type III-N and V-N construction
housing Group F, Division 1 and 2 and Groups H, I and J occu-
pancies provided the horizontal clearance between the cornice
and property line, except street front, is not less than 10
feet and the structure is a minimum of 2, 500 feet from any
concentration of natural growth such as brush and trees that
will propagate fare.
Skylights shall be constructed as required in Chapter 34.
Penthouses shall be constructed as required in Chapter 36.
For use of plastics in roofs see Chapter 52.
For Attics; Access and Area, see Section 3205 .
For Roof Drainage, see Section 3206 .
SECTION TWO: This ordinance shall be in force and take effect as
provided by law.
SECTION THREE: The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
ordinance and cause it to be published once in the Redlands Daily Facts ,
a newspaper of general circulation printed and published in the City of
Redlands .
