FESOLUTJON DECL,FING THE INTENTION OF THE COUi4CIL OF THE CITY OF
REDI,ANDS TO INITIATE ON ITS OWN MOTION PROCEEDINGS TO ANNEX CERTAIN
UNINHABITED TERRITORY IN ANNEXATION NO. 32.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF F DLAN S.
1. That the Council of the City of Fedlards, on its own motion,
hereby initiates proceedings to annex to the City of Redlands all
of the territory described herein, as uninhabited territory, in
accordance with the Annexation of Uninhabited Territory Act of
139, as provided in Sections 35300 to 35325 of the Government Code
of the State of California.
2. That this City Council's reasons for initiating said
annexation proceecings are as follows the annexation contrioutes
to the 0lderly growte of the City, eliminates an island of unincorpo-
rated territory between two cities, reduces the problem of Deter-
mining jurisdiction in t'iis area of the Santa Ana Wash, is the
settling area designated and approved by the Eater Quality Control
Board for tne discharge of effluent from the City of Redlands
sewage treatment plant Because the City is responsible :or the
effluent spreading operation, the area used for this purpose should
oe within the city limits. In addition upon completion of land fill
in progress in this area, to provide recreation facilities the pity
of Redlands plans the construction of a municipal golf course on
this location The City will utilize the sewage effluent for
irrigating tne golf course. Currently because tnis land can be
used for little else tnan water spreading and production, it
generates little or no tax revenue. The City nas taken active
steps in providing flood protection in this area to protect its
sewage treatment plant and ad j ac ent Private homes.
3. Teat the territory which toe Council intends to annex is
hereby designated "Annexation No. 32" and includes all of that real
property situate in the County of San Bernardino, State of California
described on Exhioit A attached hereto and shown on the map attached
hereto as Exhibit B.
4. That the City Manager of the City of Redlands is hereby
directed to file with the Local Agency Formation Commission of the
County of San Bernardino, State of California, this resolution that
proceedings have been initiated to annex the nereinaoove described
uninhabited territory to the City of Redlands, to request a report
by the Commission provided for in Section 35002 of tne Government
Code, ana to submit and execute such other applications and reports
as may be required by law in such annexation proceeding.
