ORDINANCE NO. 1216
AN ORDINANCE AYENRING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1000 OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS BY ADOPTING
AMENDMENT NO. 41 THERETO
The City Council of the City of Redlands does ordain as follows:
SECTION ONE: That Zoning Ordinance No. 1000 of the City of Redlands, be and is hereby
amended by adopting Amendment No. 41 which amends various sections as follows:
SECTION 42.20 - SIGNS IN RESIDENTIAL DISTRICTS
(d) In the R-2, R-2-2000 and R-3 Districts, an identification sign not to
exceed a total area of five (5) square feet, including supporting structure,
and not to exceed one sign per lot, may be permitted subject to approval of
the Planning Department prior to application for a sign permit. Said sign
shall not create architectural conflicts and shall contain the name of the
development only. No flashing, neon type or lighting of such brightness as
unreasonably interferes with the use and enjoyment of public and private
property adjacent thereto, permitted; lighting to be directed away from the
street. iVaximum height of sign structure shall be four (4) feet. Such sign
shall not extend out from the furthest projection of the main building more
than five (5) feet on any side or front, with no sign permitted in the corner
cut off areas. A sign fastened parallel to the face of the main building may
have a maximum height of six (6) feet. Such sign shall not extend out from the
surface of the building more than six (6) inches.
SECTION 39.00 - RESIDENTIAL PARKING SPACE REQUIREMENTS
Parking Spaces:
(a) In the A-1, A-2, R-A, R-E, R•-S, R-1 and R-I-D Districts, there shall be not
less than two (2) covered parking spaces in a garage or carport for every dwelling
unit. These spaces shall be on the same lot with the structure which they are
intended to serve. Lots less than fifty (50) feet in width may provide only one (1)
parking space in a garage or carport; however, single family dwelling units con-
taining more than two (2) bedrooms shall provide two (2) covered parking spaces
regardless of lot width.
(b) In the R-2, R-2-200, R-3 and A-P Districts (when used for residential pur-
poses) there shall be not less than the following number of parking spaces:
No bedroom and one bedroom units . . a 0 0 a . a 0 0 a . . 1
Two or more bedroom units o . . o o a o . a 0 a a . . a . 1-1,/2
Not less than one parking space per dwelling unit shall be covered. Said
spaces shall be calculated to the nearest next whole number and provided on
the same lot with the main building.
(c) Not more than. 25 per cent of the required front yard area on each street
shall be paved for driveway access to parking facilities, remaining front yard
area to be landscaped.
(d) Parking spaces shall not be located in any required front yard except in
mountain areas or hillside lots where garages or carports may be located in
the front yard when approved by the Commission.
(e) A garage or accessory building shall be located not closer to
the side or rear lot lines tham:
1. 'When less than seventy-five (F 5) feet from the front
property line, five (5) feet.
20 When seventy five (75) feet, or more, from the front
property line, three (3) feet; provided, however, when
walls facing said side or rear property lines are
constructed, of one (1) hour fire resistant material
and having no required openings on said lines, Cher,
the structure may be placed on the property line or
lines.
SECTION TWO-. Before adopting this Ordinance, the City- Council held a public
hearing, notice of which was published in the City of Redlands,
on the _ clay of =Z a. 2 e 1963, days before the
hearing.
SECTION THREE: This ordinance shall be in force and take effect as provided by law.
SECTION FOUR: The City Clerk shall eertify to the adopting of this Ordinance and
cause the same to be published once in the Redlands Daily Facts, a
newspaper of general circulation printed and plablished in this city,
