HomeMy WebLinkAbout5832_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 5832 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO TO ESTABLISH AN ABANDONED VEHICLE ABATEMENT (AVA) SERVICE AUTHORITY BOARD WHEREAS, abating the nuisance of abandoned vehicles in our communities is recognized as a significant problem faced by local government; and WHEREAS, the City of Redlands Department of Community Development/Code Enforcement Division finds a Countywide program for the abatement, removal and proper disposal of abandoned, wrecked, dismantled, disable and/or inoperative vehicles is in the County of San Bernardino; and WHEREAS, Section 22710 of the California Vehicle Code provides for the establishment of a Service Authority Board for the abatement of Abandoned Vehicles and the imposition of a one dollar ($1.00) vehicle registration fee, if the County and its Cooperating Cities/Towns adopt resolutions providing for the establishment of the Authority Board and the imposition of the fee. WHEREAS, Section 22710 of the California Vehicle Code provides for the membership of the Service Authority Board to be determined by concurrence of the Board of Supervisors and a simple majority vote of the majority of the cities/town within the County having a majority of the incorporated population. NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED AND ORDERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, IN THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO, STATE OF CALIFORNIA, ACTING IN ITS OFFICIAL CAPACITY AS THE LEGISLATIVE BODY FOR THE CITY OF REDLANDS THAT: Section 1. The San Bernardino County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority Board can be established in San Bernardino County, pursuant to Section 22710 of the California Vehicle Code, and Section 2. Authorize said Board to impose a one dollar ($1.00) vehicle registration fee collected by the State of California Department of Motor Vehicles for every vehicle it registers within the boundary limits of the County of San Bernardino inclusive of those registered within the City of Redlands, pursuant to Section 22710 of the California Vehicle Code; and Section 3: The membership of the San Bernardino County Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Service Authority Board shall consist of: one (1) appointed member from each of the five (5) Supervisorial Districts to be selected from the County's existing employee roster with one (1) alternate member from the same existing master employee list, and Section 4: One (1) representative from each of the program-participating Cities/Towns appointed by the governing board of each jurisdiction, and one (1) alternate member representing each participating jurisdiction. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED THIS 6th DAY OF February , 2001.
