The City Council hereby determines that the approval of this Resolution is exempt from environmental review in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act ("CEQA") pursuant to section 15061(b)(3) of the State CEQA Guidelines because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that designation of the above -referenced structure as an historic resources may have a significant impact on the environment Section 2 The three-story brick building located at 131 Cajon Street (APN 0171-301- 02-0000) is hereby designated as an histonc resource in accordance with the provisions and criteria contained m Section 2 62 170 of the Redlands Municipal Code The building was constructed in 1909 by Fred T Hams and the Taylor Brothers bnck contractors The building is pnmanly two stones, with a partial third story set back towards the rear, and it has been previously modified In 1935, a one-story addition was added to the front and back of the building, expanding the dining room and adding a small stage and additional office space The structure is strongly identified with a person or persons who significantly contnbuted to the culture, history or development through its association with Redlands Lodge No 300's Redlands Masonic Lodge, is one of the 1 I \Resolutions\Res 8200 8299\8281 Histonc Resource Designation No 137 docx DOC #2021-0550428 Page 3 of 4 few remaining examples in the city possessing distinguishing characteristics of an architectural type of specimen, representing one of the oldest commercial buildings in the City of Redlands that is still in use by the same organization that commissioned its onginal construction, and is a particular good example of a period or style, particularly the City's Historic Context Statement theme of "Early Development of Redlands (1867-1913)," which includes club/organizational buildings associated with Redlands' earliest patterns of institutional development Section 3 The building located at 131 Cajon Street shall be officially known historically as the "Redlands Masonic Lodge " Section 4 The structure shall not be altered on the exterior, moved, demolished, or otherwise permanently changed, unless a Certificate of Appropnateness or Certificate of Hardship has been first obtained from the City Section 5 The City Clerk is hereby directed to cause a certified copy of this Resolution to be recorded upon the 131 Cajon Street property (APN 0171-301-02-0000) with the County Recorder, County of San Bernardino ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 7th day of Dece •er, 2021 Paul T Banch, Mayor ATTEST e Donaldson, City Clerk 2 I \Resolutions\Res 8200 8299\8281 Histonc Resource Designation No 137 docx DOC #2021-0550428 Page 4 of 4 I, Jeanne Donaldson, City Clerk of the City of Redlands, hereby certify that the foregoing resolution was duly adopted by the City Council at a regular meeting thereof held on the 7th day of December, 2021 AYES Councilmembers Foster, Tejeda, Davis, Guzman -Lowry, Mayor Banch NOES None ABSENT None ABSTAINED None Jr liie Donaldson, City Clerk 3 1 \Resolutions\Res 8200 8299\8281 Histonc Resource Designation No 137 docx
