A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
PROTESTING THE ESTABLISHMENT OF AGRTCULTURAL PRESERVES
WITHIN ONE MILE OF THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
WHEREAS , the preservation of Open Agricultural Land near the
City of Redlands is desirable, and£
WTEREAS , it is not the intent of the City Council of the City
of Redlands to discourage a profitable and healthy agricultural,
industry near the City boundaries, andl
WHEREAS , it is the opinion of the Redlands City Council that
the California Agricultural Preserve laws should not be used for
the purpose of evading fair and equitable property tax, and;
WHEREAS , it is not the intent of the City council of the City
of Redlands to allow the City protest procedure to be used as a
method of evading penalties for violation of the Agricultural
Preserve Agreement, except under very unusual circumstances, and;
WHEREAS , the Laws of the State of California concerning Agri-
cultural Preserves could have a very deleterious effect on the
logical and advantageous growth and development of cities and
districts if said formation is not protected.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Redlands that pursuant to California Government Code,
Section No. 51243 . 5, and in order to retain the right to prevent
inequitable application of the California Agricultural preserve
laws at any future time, the City of Redlands protests the execu-
tion of any contract which would cause the formation of any Agri-
cultural Preserve within one mile of the City Limits of the City
of Redlands .
