HomeMy WebLinkAbout6248_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6248 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING A GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE FOR COMPLAINTS RELATING TO THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The City Council of the City of Redlands hereby adopts the following Grievance procedure pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act: "This Grievance Procedure is established to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act. It maybe used by any member of the public who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of his or her disability and the policies or the provision of services, activities and programs of the City of Redlands. The complaint should be in writing and contain information about the alleged discrimination such as the name, address and phone number of the complainant, and the location, date and description of the problem. Alternative means of filing complaints such as personal interviews or a tape recording of the complaint will be made available for persons with disabilities upon request. The complaint should be submitted by the complainant as soon as possible,but no later than 60 calendar days after the alleged violation, to: Bill Hensley, ADA Coordinator City of Redlands P.O. Box 3005 35 Cajon Street, Suite 222 Redlands, CA 92373 (909) 798-7655 Within 15 calendar days after receipt of the complaint,the City's ADA Coordinator will meet with the complainant to discuss the complaint and its possible resolution. Within 15 calendar days after the meeting, the City will respond in writing, and,where appropriate,in a format accessible to the complainant, such as large print, Braille, or audio tape. The response will explain the position of the City and offer options for substantive resolution of the complaint. If the response by the City's ADA Coordinator does not satisfactorily resolve the issue, the complainant may appeal the decision of the ADA coordinator,within 15 calendar days after receipt of the response, to the City Manager. b248.wpd 1 Within 15 calendar days after receipt of the appeal, the City Manager will meet with the complainant to discuss the complaint and its possible resolution. Within 15 calendar days after the meeting the City Manager will respond in writing, and,where appropriate,in a format accessible to the complainant, with a final resolution of the complaint. All written complaints received by the City's ADA Coordinator,appeals to the City Manager and responses from the ADA coordinator and City Manager will be kept by the City for at least three years."
