HomeMy WebLinkAbout5210_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 5210 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING FEES FOR VETERINARIAN SERVICES PROVIDED TO ANIMALS AT THE REDLANDS ANIMAL SHELTER WHEREAS,the Animal Control Department of the City of Redlands regularly impounds lost or stray animals at the Redlands Animal Shelter; and WHEREAS, State law imposes the obligation on the Animal Control Department to cause medical services to be rendered to any injured, lost or stray animals impounded at the Animal Shelter; and WHEREAS, the City has entered into a contract with a local veterinarian to provide such medical services for the flat rate of$50.00 per dog and cat, and $100 per individual livestock; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Animal Control Department to recoup City monies paid for the provision of medical services if the owner of the injured animal is subsequently identified; BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: Section 1 A fee is hereby established in the amount of$50.00 which may be charged to the owner of any lost or stray dog or cat for which veterinarian services were rendered. Payment of such fee shall be made at the time of, and as a condition of,release of the dog or cat to its owner, or in the event such dog or cat was euthanized prior to the owner identifying his or her self as such owner, upon the sending of an invoice for such services to the owner. Section 2 A fee is hereby established in the amount of$100.00 which may be charged to the owner of any lost or stray livestock animal for which veterinarian services were rendered. Payment of such fee should be made at the time of, and as a condition of, release of the livestock animal to its owner, or in the event such livestock animal was euthanized prior to the owner identifying his or her self as such owner, upon the sending of an invoice for such services to the owner. The City Council hereby finds that the amount of the veterinarian services fees imposed by this Resolution represent the reasonable costs of the City in providing the services for which the fee is imposed.
