A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
DELEGATING THE AUTHORITY TO RENDER DE TERMINATIONS RELATING
TO DISABILITY RETIREMENT APPLICATIONS TO THE REDLANDS CITY
MANAGER AND HIS OR HER AUTHORIZED DESIGNEES (ASSISTANT CITY
MANAGER AND ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, HUMAN RESOURCES/RISK
MANAGEMENT) AND RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO 7885
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands (herein referred to as the "City") is a contracting agency of
the Public Employees' Retirement System, and
WHEREAS, the Public Employees' Retirement Law requires that a contracting agency
determine whether an employee of such agency, in employment in which he or she is classified as a
local safety member, is disabled for purposes of the Public Employees' Retirement Law and whether
such disability is "industrial" within the meaning of such law, and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City has determined that is may delegate its authority
under Section 21173 of the Government Code to make such determinations to the incumbent of the
position of City Manager, and his or her designees, specifically the Assistant City Manager and the
Assistant Director of Human Resources/Risk Management,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS
Section 1 That it does hereby delegate, to the incumbent of the position of the City
Manager, and his or her authorized designees, specifically the Assistant City Manager and the
Assistant Director of Human Resources/Risk Management, the authority to make determinations
under Section 21152(c) of the Government Code, on behalf of the City, of disability and whether
such disability is industrial, and to certify such determinations and all other necessary information to
the Public Employee's Retirement System
Section 2 That the incumbent City Manager, and his or her authorized designees,
specifically the Assistant City Manager and the Assistant Director of Human Resources/Risk
Management, is authorized to make applications on behalf of the City for disability retirement of all
employees, and to initiate requests for reinstatement of such employees who are retired for disability
Section 3 That City of Redlands Resolution No 7885 establishing disability retirement
application procedures is hereby rescinded
