A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AUTHORIZING
APPLICATION FOR CALIFORNIA STATE PARK FUNDS, YOUTH SOCCER AND
RECREATION DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM,PROPOSITION 40-2002 RESOURCES BOND
WHEREAS,grant funds are available from the California State Parks,California Youth Soccer
and Recreation Development Program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands supports the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO)
which is a 501 (C) 3 organization to provide soccer opportunities for the youth of Redlands; and
WHEREAS, AYSO programs are conducted at various separate locations throughout the City
of Redlands, and insufficient field space is available to meet the growing youth soccer demands; and
WHEREAS, the successful implementation of the grant project to develop additional soccer
fields in conjunction with the Redlands Sports Park project to be operated and maintained by the City
of Redlands,will increase field space and will help advance the City's and AYSO's goal to enhance the
lives of families while teaching youth development skills and athletic involvement that will help develop
them for life long learning.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
I. The City Council of the City of Redlands supports and authorizes the submission of an
application by the American Youth Soccer Organization(AYSO)to the California State
Parks, California Youth Soccer and Recreation Development Program;
2. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes and empowers AYSO to execute all
necessary applications,contracts,agreements,amendments,payment requests,progress
reports, and final reports required for the purposes of securing grant funds and to
implement and carry out the purposes in the grant application;
3. The City Council of the City of Redlands will agree to all terms and conditions of said
grant, subject to the final contract approval, an appropriation of matching funds, and a
approval of a cooperative development and facility use agreement between the City of
Redlands and AYSO.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 2nd day of November, 2004.
