A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
ADOPTING NEW LOCAL GUIDELINES FOR IMPLEMENTING THE
CALIFORNIA ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT
WHEREAS, the California Legislature has amended the California Environmental Quality
Act("CEQA")(Pub. Resources Code§§21000 et seq.) and the State CEQA Guidelines (Cal. Code
of Regs., tit. 14, §§ 15000 et seq.), and the California courts have interpreted specific provisions of
CEQA, all resulting in changes to the law; and
WHEREAS,Section 21082 of CEQA requires all public agencies to adopt objectives,criteria
and procedures for the evaluation of public and private projects undertaken or approved by such
agencies,and the preparation,if required,of environmental impact reports and negative declarations
in connection with that evaluation; and
WHEREAS, City staff recommends that the City shall revise its local guidelines for
implementing CEQA to make there consistent with the current provisions and interpretations of
CEQA;
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY the City Council of the City of Redlands as
follows:
Section 1. The document entitled "Local Guidelines for Implementing the California
Environmental Quality Act (2003 Revision)" is hereby adopted and a copy shall be kept on file at
the office of the City's community Development Department and shall remain available for
inspection by the public.
Section 2. All prior versions of the City's CEQA guidelines and the resolutions which
adopted them are hereby repealed.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 17th day of June, 2003.
