HomeMy WebLinkAbout6906_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6906 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A JOINT APPLICATION WITH THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO TO THE CALIFORNIA ENERGY COMMISSION FOR THE STATE ENERGY PROGRAM MUNICIPAL FINANCING DISTRICT PROGRAM OPPORTUNITY WHEREAS, grant funds have been made available from the California Energy Commission (CEC) for the purpose of funding projects that are designed for programs related to energy efficiency, building retrofits and municipal financing programs and to address climate change by reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in several priority areas; and WHEREAS, the City of Redlands is actively engaging in numerous and diverse activities aimed at addressing climate change by reducing GHG emissions; and WHEREAS, the City of Redlands has been advancing its goals set forth in the U.S. Mayor's Climate Protection Agreement; and WHEREAS, the successful implementation of a grant project will not only provide immediate benefit to the City in the form of an additional source of funding for the development of a municipal financing district that will afford residents unique a market-transforming service, but will also provide extended benefits through increased energy independence and of potential economic stimulus and job growth; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. City staff is hereby authorized to submit a joint application with the City of San Bernardino to the California Energy Commission's Municipal Financing District Funding Opportunity on behalf of the City. Section 2. The Mayor or any member of the City Council is hereby authorized to execute, in the name of the City, all necessary applications, contracts, agreements and amendments for the purpose of securing Fant funds; and the Quality of Life Director, or the Director's designee, to review, prepare, and authorize on behalf of the City all necessary payment requests, progress reports, and final reports to implement and carry out the purposes specified in the grant application.
