A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AUTHORIZING
APPLICATION FOR CALIFORNIA STATE PARD FUNDS, STATE URBAN PARKS AND
HEALTHY COMMUNITIES, PROPOSITION 40--2002 RESOURCES BOND
WHEREAS, grant funds are available from the California State Parks: State Urban Parks and
Healthy Communities program; and
WHEREAS, the City of Redlands partners with Redlands Baseball/Softball for Youth(RB/SY)
which is a 501 (C) 3 organization to provide baseball/softball opportunities for the youth of Redlands;
and
WHEREAS, RB/SY programs are held at the Community Parr ballfields, which are at
maximum capacity and in need of repairs and enhancements. The grant funds will be used to install
field lights on 3 fields while bringing two up to standard and construct one new field to accommodate
the increase in participation; and
WHEREAS, the successful implementation of the grant project to repair, develop, and increase
field space will help advance the City's goal to enhance the lives of families while teaching youth
developmental skills, and athletic involvement that will help develop them for life long learning;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT:
1. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes submission of an application to the
California State Parks: State Urban Parks and Healthy Communities program Grant.
2. The City Council of the City of Redlands authorizes and empowers the Police Department,
Recreation Bureau, to execute in the name of the City of Redlands all necessary
applications, contracts, agreements, amendments,payment requests, progress reports, and
final reports for the purposes of securing grant funds and to implement and carry out the
purposes specified in the grant application.
