A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS,
CALIFORNIA, SUPPORTING THE CALIFORNIA HEALTHY CITIES AND
COMMUNITIES PROJECT AND INDICATING THE INTENT TO CONTINUE
PARTICIPATION IN THE PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands, California, has placed a high priority on
improving the quality of life for all the citizens of the City; and
WHEREAS, such an effort must be broad in scope to include all aspects of the environment: and
WHEREAS,success will depend on coordinated efforts of both the public and private sectors; and
WHEREAS, new programs with proven success in other locations should be considered for their
applicability to the conditions in the City of Redlands.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Redlands supports the
California Healthy Cities and Communities concept as a means of integrating health concerns into a broad
approach to improving the overall environment in the City and intends to continue participation in the project
as established by the State of California Department of Health Services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City has developed the Building A Generation program and
a Youth Coalition to address specific youth development and community health needs and will coordinate the
implementation of that program with the State of California and local agencies and community organizations.
PASSED,APPROVED AND ADOPTED at a regular meeting of the Redlands City Council held on
this 4th day of May, 1999.
