HomeMy WebLinkAbout8373RESOLUTION NO. 8373 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA REPEALING RESOLUTION NOS. 8317 AND 8319, WITHDRAWING THE ORDER OF ELECTION AND SETTING OF PRIORITIES FOR FILING WRITTEN ARGUMENTS RELATED THERETO FROM THE NOVEMBER 8, 2022 GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION, AND DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO GIVE NOTICE TO THE COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS AND THE SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY REGISTRAR OF VOTERS WHEREAS, on June 21, 2022, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 8317 calling and giving notice of a general municipal election to be held on November 8, 2022 and ordering the submission to the qualified voters at said election date a proposed ballot measure titled, "Initiative Ordinance of the People of Redlands Amending Sections 1A.0, 1A.10, 1.A.30 and 4.2B, of the Principles of Managed Development of the City of Redlands General Plan 2035," ("Alternative Measure") negotiated by the University of Redlands with the original authors of a similar initiative; and WHEREAS, after the City Council's adoption of Resolution No. 8317, the University of Redlands requested that the Alternative Measure be revised to add proposed amendments to Section 4.41j of the General Plan ("Modified Alternative Measure"); and WHEREAS, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 8374 to place the Modified Alternative Measure on the ballot and adopted Resolution No. 8375 to set the priorities for the filing of ballot arguments for the Modified Alternative Measure; and WHEREAS, the City Council now wishes by this Resolution to withdraw the Alternative Measure and the setting of priorities for filing ballot arguments related thereto by repealing Resolution Nos. 8317 and 8319. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Redlands, California, does hereby resolve, declare, determine, and order as follows: Section 1. Each recital set forth above is adopted as a finding of the City Council as though set forth fully herein. Section 2. The City Council hereby repeals Resolution Nos. 8317 and 8319. Section 3. Pursuant to California Elections Code Section 9605, the City Council orders that the initiative ordinance to be placed on the ballot pursuant to Resolution No. 8317 be withdrawn from the November 8, 2022 ballot. Section 4. The City Council directs the City Clerk to file a certified copy of this Resolution with the Board of Supervisors of the County of San Bernardino and the San Bernardino Registrar of Voters, to inform them of the City's withdrawal of the Alternative Measure. 1 L:\ca\Reso\8373 Withdrawing Univerity Alternative Measure.docx ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 19th day uly, 22.
