HomeMy WebLinkAbout6007_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6007 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS ESTABLISHING A PRIORITY LISTING OF CITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS FOR PURPOSES OF FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL FUNDING FOR THE YEAR 2002 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands ("this City Council") is seeking to undertake a substantial number of new City-initiated development projects to address community- wide needs in the business-development,recreational,public safety and city-infrastructure fields for the benefit of its citizens and to enhance the overall quality of life in Redlands; and WHEREAS, on January 29,2002, this City Council sponsored a one-half day City Council workshop where it received testimony from members of its City Commissions,its citizens and City staff regarding the need for such projects,the possibilities for their design and construction and the feasibility of funding such projects; and WHEREAS, this City Council is aware that several of the City development projects discussed at its workshop may be eligible for various types of federal, state and local funding, through grants and otherwise; and WHEREAS,this City Council has expressed its desire to aggressively pursue such federal, state and local funding to help defray the direct costs of such projects and to expedite their design and construction; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of this City Council by the adoption of this Resolution to identify a listing of City development projects for purposes of informing our Congressional representatives, state and local officials and public officers of their order of priority; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: Section 1. The following City-initiated development projects are hereby listed in order of priority for purposes of eligibility for Federal, State and local funding: A. The East Valley Community Justice Center project which will include a new, consolidated police facility for Redlands,possible location of certain court facilities, civic center administration and public safety offices and possible retail facilities. B. The Redlands "Homeland Security/Safety" Program and Task Force which will include projects to protect the safety and interest of Redlands' citizens including a plan for security at the Redlands Municipal Airport and equipment for analyzing and responding to hazardous waste and materials threats. The funding and construction of the Northside Community Library pursuant to the California Reading and Literacy Improvement and Public Library Construction and Renovation Bond Act of 2000 ("the Library Bond Act"). D. The downtown Redlands parking enhancement project commonly referred to locally as "Park Once" which consists of the design and construction of two parking structures and related parking facilities. E. The Redlands"Urban Forest Project"which will include the inventory and mapping of the City's street tree and greenway resources and a plan for their preservation and enhancement. F. A Plan for Redlands preservation and rehabilitation of its historic and cultural resources including the Redlands Museum (elevator or other interior design), Fox Theater Restoration, Barton House Restoration and Mission Gables building renovation.
