Dear Mr. Leonard: I have your favor of May 31st inclosing quit claim deed for signatures of Mrs® Wells and myself to City of Redlands on property known as w Pepper Park n on Church street. Herein please find the document duly executed, and it is signed and delivered with the understanding that the city of Redlands and the School District of Redlands are to be benefitted by the abandonment of this property for Park purposes, and its use partially for residence and partly for school purposes. I understand that this is not a sale for profit on the part of the city, in which case I would expect the land to revert to me, or that I have a share in the benefits, and you are authorized to deliver the deed to the city only on condition that there is to be no cash profit from the tran- saction. I am glad to help along the transfer under the conditions as pod.state them and as I understand them. If the city is to receive other property from the school district In exchange, which it will later on dispose of for a cash consideration, I would feel that the consideration under this quit claim be considerably raised, . or that I share in the benefits derived.
