HomeMy WebLinkAbout6169_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO. 6169 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS COMMITTING TO THE CONTINUED POSTING OF AGENDAS FOR MEETINGS OF CITY LEGISLATIVE BODIES AT LEAST 72 HOURS PRIOR TO SUCH MEETINGS OR AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED FOR IN THE RALPH M. BROWN ACT WHEREAS, the Ralph M. Brown Act(Government Code section 54950 et seq) (the "Act") provides that public commissions, boards and councils and the other public agencies in this state exist to aid in the conduct of the people's business; and WHEREAS the Act further provides that it is the intent of the law that the actions of such commissions, boards and councils be taken openly and that their deliberations be open; and WHEREAS, the Act presently provides that at least 72 hours before a regular meeting, legislative bodies of a local agency must post an agenda containing a brief general description of each item of business to be transacted or discussed at the meeting, including items to be discussed in closed session; and WHEREAS, the Act requires that agendas shall specify the time and location of the regular rneeting and shall be posted in a location that is freely accessible to members of the public; and WHEREAS, this City Council wishes to express its commitment to continued compliance with the Ralph M. Brown Act and its agenda noticing and posting requirements for all City legislative bodies regardless of potential action by the state possibly relieving the City of such requirements because of budgetary constraints; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as follows: Section 1. This City Council hereby expresses its commitment to post agendas 72 hours in advance of the meetings of all legislative bodies, as presently required by the Ralph M. Brown Act, or as the Act is subsequently amended. ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 17th day of June, 2003.
