A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS AUTHORIZING
THE REDLANDS POLICE DEPARTMENT TO ADMINISTER THE CDBG GRANT AWARDED
BY THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO TO THE UNITED WAY FOR PROGRAMS
SPONSORED BY BUILDING A GENERATION
WHEREAS,United Way of the East Valley, Inc. ("United Way")was awarded a CDBG grant
in the amount of$5,000 from the County of San Bernardino on April 16,2002 as part of the 2002-2003
Action Plan; and
WHEREAS, the County Department of Economic and Community Development ("ECD") is
authorized to act on behalf of County in administering the County CDBG program; and
WHEREAS, United Way is expanding its services by providing an after school home work
tutoring and computer literacy services to at-risk students in the northern vicinity of Redlands,and this
program namely"Building a Generation" is in conjunction with the Redlands Police Department; and
WHEREAS, CDBG grant funds will be used to purchase computer equipment, printers and
hardware to teach students and families computer training,and said project will be implemented during
FY 2003-04; and
WHEREAS, United Way is merging some of its operations with Mt. Baldy United Way and
wishes to have the Redlands Police Department assume the duties relative to the administration of the
above mentioned CDBG grant that is under the direction of Building A Generation; and
WHEREAS, ECD has requested that the City of Redlands adopt a resolution to amend the
County of San Bernardino 2002-2005 Consolidated Plan and the 2003-2004 Action Plan amending the
implementing agency from the East Valley United Way- Building a Generation Program, to the City
of Redlands Police Department/Recreation CDBG Projects.
NOW,THEREFORE, THE CITY OF REDLANDS HEREBY RESOLVES that the Redlands
Police Department,Recreation Bureau will assume the administrative duties associated with the CDBG
grant awarded to the United Way on April 16, 2002 as part of the 2003-2004 Action Plan.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 5th day of August, 2003.
