HomeMy WebLinkAbout3386_CCv0001.pdf RESOLUTION NO 3386 RESOLUTION OF THE CI'T'Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS URGING THE FEDERAL AND STATE AUTHORITIES AND THE SAN BERNAFDINO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO SEEK TO HAVE THE NEW SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY MUSEUM. DESIGNA'T'ED TO BE THE LOCATION FOR R.E'T'ENTION OF THE OLD WOMAN METEORI'T'E WHEREAS, the three-ton Old Woman meteorite was found in San Bernardino County, and WHEREAS , the people of California should have easy and convenient access to view, study and display this meteorite, and WHEREAS, the new San Bernardino County museum would be a fitting, secure and well-.located site for this phenomenon, and WHEREAS, all of the thirteen major iron meteorites discovered in the United ,States to date are located in institutions or museums in the East, with seven already in the Smithsonian, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands desires that this area be the permanent home for this meteorite, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and City Council of the City of Redlands urge the Federal Government, the State Legislature and the County Board of Supervisors to take appropriate legal steps to establish this end, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of Redlands invites all other cities in the State of California to join with us in this appeal ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 1 b da!�)of July, 1977 Bayo t Ci f lands ATTEST: I, Peggy A .
