WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Redlands has believed for

some time that certain County services financed by the Count,
are of benefit primarily or exclusively to County residents in unincorporated
areas, and
WHEREAS, nearly half of the revenues from t-he County property tax ,omez
from within incorporated cities, and
.HEREAS, the cities have struggled for years to avoid tax increases in
svite of the -reat need for city Ser-4-4CeS
C, to keep abreast of increases in costs
and populationp and
WHEREAS, there are indications that the County tax rate may increase
drastically, resultinl- in greater total tax rates for city residents due to, the
County increase, and
WHEREAS, this increase would further increase the disparity between County
taxes paid by city residents and the benefits from said County taxes received
by such city taxpayers, a-ad
HERE ASO there are various legal means for the County Board of Supervisors
to levy property taxes in a, more equitable imanner to the relief of municipal
property owners.
NOT, THEREFOREO BE IT RESOLVE D by the Clty Council olf the City of Redlands
that this City Council does hereby vigorously protest any increase in County
tax rates to be levied against city property oumers, until a more equitable
formula has been reachedc
