A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDLANDS
DELEGATING TO THE CITY MANAGER, OR THE MANAGER'S
AUTHORIZED DESIGNEE, THE AUTHORITY TO ENTER INTO
AGREEMENTS ON BEHALF OF THE CITY FOR THE USE,
REPRODUCTION AND PUBLISHING OF DATA GENERATED BY AND/OR
RELATED TO THE CITY
WHEREAS, from time to time, City staff receives requests from individuals, businesses
and entities for the provision and/or use of data generated by, and related to, the City; and
WHEREAS, the proposed uses of such data by individuals, businesses and entities
include general marketing and promotional activities, demonstrations, trade shows, seminars,
educational, and for training materials; and
WHEREAS, City staff suggests that the provision and sharing of such data with
individuals, businesses and entities can be beneficial to the City and its residents by promoting
the City's business, educational, cultural and historic elements and opportunities through the
subsequent distribution of such data through promotional brochures, trade journals and seminar
materials; and
WHERAS, requests received by staff for City data are often time sensitive, and City staff
recommends that the requests can best be answered by staff, without the need to obtain approval
of such requests at regularly scheduled Council meetings, provided compliance with the request
has no financial cost to the City;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Redlands as
follows:
Section 1. The City Council hereby delegates to the City Manager, or the City Manager's
authorized designee, the authority to enter into and execute agreements for individuals',
businesses' and entities' requests for the use, reproduction and publishing of data generated by,
and related to, the City; provided that the City Attorney's Office shall approve the form of all
such agreements and that the City shall incur no financial cost in entering into such agreements.
ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED this 15th day of September, 2009.
